Canon ST-E3-RT and HSS

I'm looking to try out a few Canon 600EX-RTs and the ST-E3-RT Transmitter. But I'm struggling to find out any consistent info on High Speed Sync......

I have pre-2012 cameras (1D MkIII and 1D MkIIn) will i be able to fully utilise the wireless transmitter and shutter at 1/8000? I've heard that pre-2012 camera lose some functionality with grouping flashes so just wanted to check

Any help gratefully received :) thanks

There are some restrictions with older cameras, but yours are not listed. See page 19 of the ST-E3-RT manual. http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/5/0300007515/02/st-e3-rt-im2-en-es-fr.pdf

Get the YN then you have second curtain and AF assist, plus enough change for a good slap up meal.

Try both of mine if your near the south, the YN-E3-RT and the ST-E3-RT. (also have four 600s here and the Elinchrom HS)

Edit: nice pics btw, seems we have some MX in common! :)

The 600RTs are amazing! The light from those things is incredible!

Thanks for the feedback guys. really useful, and good shout on the YN-E3-RT, i'm guessing it has the same functionality (menu system) as the canon ST-E3-RT.

Yep the same, build quality and screen clarity is not quite as good, but it has second curtain and AF assist as you know, I HAD to get one just for second curtain, a great effect for action shots that is missed on my STE3RT, IF had had known it was missing I prob would only own the YN. Btw you can run multiple triggers ST and YN at the same time, meaning for example if two photographers were at say a wedding they would both be firing off groups of flashes, or say you had two cameras, just in case like me you have to justify two :) but then I guess it pays to have a backup haha

not sure if this is too late but I use the Canon 1d MKiv which is a 2009 model and the Yognuo ex600 rt plus trigger work flawlessly.

I have two Yongnuo 600's plus the trigger and you don't have to have the bodies facing the trigger to fire in wireless mode.
