Hello

I am going to buy a 20d or a 350d really soon, not sure wich one yet, it depends on my walet mostly.

But taking a look at my actual equipment I found this flash that works very well with a Canon Rebel S Film camera, and i was wondering if this flash (Speedlite 420EZ) works with any of this Digital cameras?

:confused-

the EZ flashes will not work in automatic mode, it will fire but you need to make all the settings yourself as they do not support E-TTL, you'll need a EX flash for digital :)

Thanks, thats what I thought, well, need to save more... (and put on the sale the EZ hehe)

Don't be too hasty, the EZ will work perfectly well with your new camera. Too many people these days seem to think that if it's not the latest and greatest it's no good, or that they need to do everything 'automatically'

With a digital camera, especially one where you can shoot in RAW you only need to experiment a little bit to get great results with even basic equipment. I use a Centon flashgun which was originally dedicated to my very old Pentax ME Super, it works just fine on my 300d. I'm sure the 420EZ can be used manually and has many manual features that you can employ to get the pictures you want and it will help your understanding of flash lighting no end doing it.

I have to agree with Steep. You''l certainly learn more about flash with an older model than one of the latest where you just stick it on 'TTL' and forget it. You can get just as good results, but a little thought from you will be needed.

sorry, i forgot to mention what steep said, you need to work out distance and stuff but it will work, though not in automatic mode, but in all honestly, i've yet to use any mode other than full manual on my 10D, it's just another learning curve but there is a very good guide somewhere, check the links section for flash photography, or google it :)

okay, so, just let me get the camera and start shooting and practicing with this flash, I have to learn a lot, but i will be asking.

Thanks for your help.
