Hi I'm just looking at Canon Speedlite units.

I know the 420 EZ was released in 1987 so its not top notch or anything, but are they any good (considering that I don't use a flash that often).

My current flash isn't that great, a set of 2700mAh AA's lasts about 75 cycles and TTL is non existant, so its manual only.

Are these units really that bad for occasional use.

I have a 420 and it's a very good little light. Well built and a reasonable output for light use.

I rarely use mine though as I'm the other way to you and only really like flash on manual.

Hmmmm,

I would probably agree in the end though, as the TTL can't meter which direction the head is facing and distances to walls/bounce etc...

And I never point the flash straight ahead when I use it.

I would probably be better off just staying with what I have and keeping it on Manual to get what I want, never really thought about that side of it all!

Cheers
Jym
