Is there more than one canon 580ex2?

I see some that are listed as 580ex and some that are listed as 580ex2.

Yes, there's the 580EX and the 580EXII, Canon's flagship flashgun now is the 600EX-RT which has built in radio technology. Not sure if they've hit the shelves anywhere yet.

Thanks for the info. I found one on ebay and it was a listed as just 580ex. It was a good price so I searched it and kept getting the ex2. Its official, this forum is more useful than Google. Lol. I was in a store today and saw the new 600 for sell. I'm in the u.s. so I dont know if its available where your at yet. Thanks again for the info.

there is also the 430ex and 430exII for similar reasons
580exII has, iirc, - faster recycling time, silent recycling and a modified hot-shoe mount.

The 580EX has been discontinued for a few years, which probably explains the lower price the OP mentions.

It's worth pointing out that the 580EX and EX2 are basically the same gun. Cosmetic changes and a few extra features on the Mk2, but main spec is identical.
