Canon SL2/ Nikon D5600, and a Lens Question

Canon have the smallest, lightest primes. They call them pancake lenses. I have the 40mm and it is an excellent lens and is tiny, fast focusing and very good image quality.

I also seen a review of the 200 I think and it looked novice friendly to me.

I used to own a Nikon d5500 and it was fast and the images are not soft at all.

If someone is getting soft images with modern Nikons then something is wrong and it is not the cameras fault

Thanks GTG :) I should explain the soft photo thing better, they're not soft as such but just a bit less crisp than the photos the Canon was taking when I tried it :) The 40mm is very tempting, I couldn't decide between the 40mm and the 50mm but found an offer on the portrait kit which has the 50 in so I've gone for that for now, even though the 50 is bigger, but the 40 sounds great too.

This is going to sound really silly, but does the Canon 200D have the sort of focus tracking that my Nikon D80 had, ie, if I focus it on a moving subject and then follow the subject, will it continue to work to keep focus on said subject? I didn't get around to exploring this when I tried the 200D out and I've just thought it would be handy to know :)

Yes from reviews I have read the tracking should be a lot more advanced than a d80. They put some of the auto focus technology from the more canon expensive cameras. It is one of the main features of the 200 I think, although 9 AF points is low these days it is not all to do with how many points you have

just to be clear the d3100 has the filter on whereas the latter 3300 onwards dont and are considered very good sensors with a decent lens the photos should be tack sharp

again the sensor in the d3300 3400 5300 5500 7100 and 7200 7600 is pretty much identical so a second hand d3300 £219 will virtually give same IQ as the others give or take

difference is in the handling VF FPS etc etc
