Canon RF100-500mm fault

Hello all - just wondering if I'm unlucky or if it's a more systematic problem.

Out last Sunday taking pics (as you do) 20 shots in the 3 month old lens went baths*t crazy violently jumping from ~4.5m to infinity... It's been back to Canon Service Centre in Elstree and it needs a new focus motor & diaphragm assembly.

All under warranty so no worries there but wondering if I'm spectacularly unlucky or just one of those things?

Just the unfortunate one. I had a Fuji XT2 body that completely died after 120 shots. Fuji were fast and told the supplier to replace it with a new body rather than fix it.

I reckon my shooting pals should buy me a lens for taking one for the team then
