Canon remote switches

Hi, can anyone help me? I am looking to get a remote control for my camera and they're all pretty inexpensive but there are wired and infrared ones.

Does anyone have an opinion on which is best?

If you just want a short wired remote buy the cheapest you can find that fits your camera, the price Canon charge for what is a switch and a camera specific plug is scandalous.

There are several makes of radio and infra red remote, all of which are again cheaper than the Canon options and work just as well.

One thing you might consider is a wired remote with a built in intervalometer to allow you to do time lapse sequences, a copy one is not much more expensive than a standard remote switch but much more useful.

I bought one from 7DayShop Canon fit remote timer, does just what it says on the tin

I have a wired, and an IR one, both from ebay, both work fine

cost <£5 each

I have a couple of wireless jobs from Ebay cheap and cheerful but work fine. About £20 if I recall.
