I have been using my new R6ii recently and I love it. I am still learning with it but I am do glad I got thus now, do early into my photography hobby.

I tried doing s video with the camera but it times out after 5 minutes. I can't find anything in the menu that I think relates to this. Does anyone know how j can address this?

As always, thank you for any help you can give.

Mick

I’m going to ignore the most obvious possibility that it’s overheating as there are visual indications on the display so the next thing is what type of SD card are you using?

Lexar 128GB Professional 1800x 270MB/Sec UHS-II V60 SDXC Card

Bought from Wex

All four videos were 5 minutes long exactly. I did them all with the Canon app on a tablet.

Hmm… I don’t use any of that wireless stuff- what happens if you just record the videos on the camera the old fashioned way by flipping it in video mode and pressing the record button?

You'll probably find the v60 version is 270MB/s read nearer 130 write.

You really need v90 for 4K video. Pretty sure that's in the manual (albeit couched in slightly different nomenclature)

v60 is fine for r6 level cameras. 5min clean recording pretty much proves that. You wouldn't get even close otherwise.

I would just make sure it is formatted in camera and that it is vfat or you might accidentally find your files are pretty much right on the dot of 2gb max.

wireless stuff absolutely drains the battery in no time at all. Also another source of heat. I only use it in emergency.

It worked with the on camera control. Thanks for your help

Canon make amazing cameras and lenses… much of their software I am less enthusiastic about! At least you know it’s either a setting buried somewhere or just the app is crap. Either way, at least it’s not your gear!
