Recently purchased the R6 and was shooting the other day with it with the RF35mm lens attached.

I noticed a couple of issues when I checked the RAW files

1. The numbering. - I took 3 photos which were listed as IMG_0151,cr3 to IMG_0153.cr3

The next image however was _MG_0154.cr3 and so on for the rest of the photos. There was only 2 minutes between 0153, and 0154 being shot, so date and time were not a factor.

2. Reviewing EXIF information on my PC, I discovered that unlike with my 5D4, the exposure program, metering mode, exposure bias, and the lens model was not captured.

I rechecked with my 5D4 and this info is captured and shown in the program I use Faststone Image Viewer.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing these issues, I am using the current firmware in the camera.

As I recall the Canon file numbering convention is:-

IMG is sRGB
_MG is aRGB

Edit ~ I am not aware of anything that would change the above setting other than user intervention!

As for the other matter, I can only surmise that as you are shooting raw on a modern body the EXIF is not reading fully "readable" depending on the program used???

As above, the file name is a std Canon behaviour of you change the colour space.

And I’d guess your raw editor needs updating to read the exif info.

Hi guys got to the bottom of this.

The RF 35mm lens was not passing this information to the R6 camera body.

Identified this by using an EF 100-400L lens with converter on the R6 and the EXIF read in full.

Dont know if this is standard with the 35mm so will email Canon to ask the specific question

Going back to the numbering all that changed was going from AV mode to TV mode.
