Yes
Got an R5 yesterday and it takes pictures.
Sadly I'm struggling to set it up.

I'd really like to use (for instance) Servo AF with single point af.
I can get the camera to do this but every time I power cycle it, it forgets.

On power on it automatically starts to focus without half pressing the shutter button or AF start button.
Is this normal?

I'm using the latest firmware 1.1.2 or 1.2 or whatever canon uk have on the support pages.

not the expert around here but do you have it in one of the C modes with Continuous AF switched on - I think that would explain what's happening

Possibly.
What's a "C" mode?

Custom mode....there is C1 -3 as an option along with manual, tv etc...
pressing M-Fn will get you to the servo options then use the front dial...the focus point back button and M-Fn will get you the single focus point.......which you have probably worked out but if you are in C mode the camera reverts back to the saved settings.

alternatively try setting it up as you want and then in the yellow menu 5 register the settings to a custom mode and use that?

What isobaric says is correct.
I'm still having problems though but thanks for your input,

If the camera is still constantly focussimg when switched on again it’s possibly an entry under custom functions.............if you change it ie turn off continuous af, it will only be effective temporarily and revert back when you turn the camera off and on again.........I would reset everything / clear custom functions/ factory settings ( think it’s in the yellow menu) and see if that cures it.........
