So - I wanted to set up a couple of my custom modes on my R5 for exposure and focus bracketing. In those modes I was going to have the camera select separate folders that I have set up to save the bracketed images to. So my folder structure on my cards consists of 3 folders 100EOSR5, 101EXPOS and 102FOCUS. I thought I was being smart until I discovered that every time I format my card it deletes all the folders and reverts to the name 100[name of last folder created]. Has anyone else had this problem and know of a workaround? The only thing I can think of is to delete the files from each folder on the Mac after I have imported to Lightroom and NOT reformat the cards when I re-insert them in the camera (which is what I normally do). Ta muchly!

Of course formatting deletes folders.

That’s exactly what it’s supposed to do. And if you haven’t set up a method to recreate the folders then what you’re seeing is exactly correct.
Two simple solutions:
1, when the card is in the reader, do a search for file type and when it lists them, select all and delete (the folders will be left intact)
2, format the card, but keep a folder on your desktop containing a blank copy of the empty folders you use, after format, copy across the empty folders.

Thanks - I figured as much - a bit curious as to why it selects the last suffix to create a the new folder on formatting though.

It just increments- I guess it’s so that if you copy them across you’ll not overwrite:)
