Canon have announced that the R1 is in development, but other than a new imaging processor and better AF, there’s no specs provided.

Reading the canon press release "Canon is working on field tests for this camera, and will support capturing definitive and impactful moments at international sporting events to be held in the future." Maybe a little game of trying to spot an R1 in Paris this summer
