Canon powershot sx420

I have just bought the above camera mainly as it has an optical zoom of 42x and I am fed up of the hassle of carrying a slr and associated lens from wide to tele .
the camera is also very compact another plus factor , ok I know I am unlikely to get the same quality but I want it mainly for holidays and wildlife shots .
There is not a user manual supplied with the camera so I downloaded the online one but it is woefully inadequate in details , anyone else bought one of these and found same ?

Thanks - very helpful ,A,P and live modes with manual override option in manual , think I have sorted it now just need to get out there with it .

Sorry it was my understanding that the sx420 has no manual modes so beyond pointing it at something and pressing the button there was very little you needed to do!

I think you will be very disappointed with the image quality and usability coming from a dslr, you have opted for a very very basic p&s with a pretty horrible spec list much better super zoom compacts exist.
