Canon Powershot A620 missing files from memory card

Hi

I connected my Dad's Canon Powershot A620 to my laptop without installing the software. I couldn't see any files when I viewed the drive through 'My Computer' but my Dad is insistent that there were pictures on the camera before I plugged it in.

Now I have taken a few more test pictures and installed the software and I can see the new ones I took today, both through the software and through My Computer.

Have I accidentally deleted or re-formatted the memory card by plugging it in before I installed the software? Any help would be very gratefully received as my Dad is not looking happy.....:bonk:

Rescue pro delux or imagerescue will do the job, but don't write any more files on the camera till you have got the other ones off. These programmes come free with the lexar/sandisc pro CF cards, if you haven't bought one of these, I think you can download the software from their web site for a pretty nominal fee. Good luck!!

ps, you shouldn't have deleted the other ones by mistake, I don't think, they should still be there.
