Canon Pixma MG6150 - printing too dark

I recently bought a Canon Pixma MG6150 and I have to say that it is a very impressive, all round printer/scanner etc.

However, I'm finding that it tends to print out 6x4" photos (colour and B&W) at about a stop too dark when using Lightroom and about half a stop when just using the bog-standard Win7 image viewer. Colours seem to be pretty good though. I'm using the Canon Super Glossy II paper that came with it, as recommended, and I have the printer setting set to use that type of paper.

I calibrated my monitor some time ago, and have printed images off on other PCs without to much of an issue, so I don't think it is that. Also, you can tell that the monitor is calibrated as it is darker than the standard settings (you'd expect it to be brighter if I'm correct?)

Short of reinstalling the printer drivers I'm at a bit of a loss. Should I be sending it back? Has anyone come across this before? Is there some kind of global 'brightness' setting for the printer that needs tinkering with?

Any help would be much appreciated!

what is the cm2 value of the monitor set to.

how are you printing

using photoshop to colour manage or the printer software.

In lightroom make sure you chose the ICC profile and its not "Managed by Printer".

The printer driver will install some profiles for your printer and the paper you are using. in your case you'll probably use GL3 or 1 and 2. 1 being the best quality. Chose one of the GLx profiles.

Then turn colour management off in the printer properties.

The fun begins when you use paper that you cant find a profile for, which is the problem i have now.

Yep, this has pretty much fixed my problem. The ICC profile in Lightroom had defaulted to some random setting. Changing this to a CL2 profile has lightened up my images no end.

However, I wasn't able to find where I had to turn of colour management in my printer properties? Any ideas? I found this in lightroom, but not in the printer properties.
