Getting :razz: with this, every black and white I print comes out with a red colour cast which does not show up in printer soft proofing. Doesn't matter what paper I use, canon or other. I googled about the problem it seems to be an issue with the ip4500 right upto this ip4850 !. Is there anyway of fixing this?, i'm using

Adobe Photoshop deals with colours , Perceptual , Black ink compensation , colour management is off in printer, I've even tried greyscale :bang:

p.s Even shows up in some colour photo's in the white areas!

If you select " Plain Paper " then " Greyscale " and " High " it comes out black and white with NO casts. Quality is awful though

Why is this?, why can't it do a perfect black and white with any form of photo paper :cuckoo:

I tried several experiments as follows. I chose a black and white photo and printed it out with setting on plain paper and standard quality, using just ordinary plain paper. Printed out in grey scale and that was fine. I then changed the plain paper setting to "glossy photo paper" and High Quality, the change was dramatic as the reddish colour cast appeared all over the Black and white photo, making it look like a sepia effect. So this also occur in colour photos, although the colours are there, there is a general reddish cast and reds and browns in particular are different to that shown on the monitor.

BINGO!!!

Looks so much better for black and whites :D

PRINTER -
GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER
HIGH
MANUAL(NONE) = -3 MAGNETA

PRINTER MANAGES COLOURS
DOCUMENT - SRGB
RELATIVE COLORMETRIC

Never had the problem until I used a third party ink cartridge. I've got a 4500 and a 4850 and both are fine. I use third party in the 4500 which is the one that showed the problem but it's fine now and still on third party cartridges.

These are brand new inks, it's a brand new paper!

Google Magneta cast or Red cast for the pixma range, there are loads :(

I'm not going to tempt fate!

Sounds like the Canon profile is off, given that changing to printer management has solved your problem. Sure a custom profile could fix it.

On a slightly separate note your rel-col sitting is a much better choice than perceptual unless you're printing some very wacky colours.
