OK let's expand a bit on that title. I'm contemplating adding a bit more reach to my lens collection (200mm is my current max). Looking at my use cases then the bare minimum I'd want at the long end is 400mm f5.6. A bit more reach would be nice as would a faster lens (but the latter results in rapidly accelerating price for what I've found).
I'm on RF so my first thought was the 100-500 however that will only hit f6.3 at 400mm which is too tight - I have a particular location where I know I'll have to be at 12800 iso at f5.6 so going tighter than that really isn't a option.
The best option at present seems to be an EF 100-400 mk2 at around £1k.
Arw there other options I haven't considered?
