Hi all,

I'm looking for a few opinions from real world people about how you think your choosen brand of camera excels over others. Features you like, and perhaps also things that annoy you. If we could keep it brand specific rather than model specific that would be helpful for me.

Nikon - tend to have chunkier more solid-feeling cameras than Canon. Overall, the handling is generally more sorted

Sigma- produce lenses 95% as good as the ones made by Nikon or Canon, but at 50% of the cost.

Yeah, Sort of. With regard to the outputted image qualities as well tho if possible.

Canon tend to deal with noise reduction (especially at high ISO) better than Nikon, but this can be at the expense of fine detail within the image.

i prefer sigma lenses as they are not as expensive as the canon L series, but in some cases have image quality that is right up there with them, the 70-200 F2.8 HSM EX being a good example

Lower end Canons cannot shoot .RAW in AUTO mode. Lower end Nikons D40, D50) have only 6mp so cropping is not prossible for big prints.

well half of 6 is 3...and yet half of 8 is only a bit bigger at 4 ... not as much use as you'd think.. And possibly countered with the improved detail bit, if you consider the noise issue.

Auto mode? You mean Programme mode?

I think he means the 'green' mode which is fully automatic. Progam mode allows some flexibility such as use of flash etc

Ah, I see. So very expensive point and shoot mode essentially.
