Canon nightmare - a true story

Hi all

I say true story as a couple of my recent posts haven't been strictly true - the one about stopping your heart to avoid camera shake & the pygmies with their foreskin based tripods - were in fact made-up

But this is true...

Last night I had one of those 'real' dreams, the ones where as you wake up for the first few secs you're not really sure if it was just a dream or not

Well in mine I was visiting a friend, and I had my car broken into with my main camera bag being stolen with all my NIKON camera stuff inside (about £7ks worth, that's relevant). So the Police were in it and everything proceeded as if real, and basically telling me I'd never see the gear again

Then the Insurance Assessor turns up, quickly agrees with my claim for £7k based on the gear I quote as in the bag - in hindsight, I should have realised then it was a dream to not be arguing with the insurer!

Next the nightmare bit - I kid ye not - this is what happened next...

In replacement I was buying CANON gear not Nikon! Aaarrrggghhh :eek::eek:

And, I was telling my mate why I was replacing my D2Xs with 2 5Ds, with battery grips n all - it gets worse - I was telling my mate it's because the Canon-L glass is better than Nikon's own!!!!! And trying to figure out what I'd get for my £7k!

FFS!!! What had I eaten for supper that could have me so poisoned as that? :gag::gag::gag:

Thankfully, I woke up to see my lovely Nikon gear still in its bag safe & sound, and to realise it was only a nightmare after all

Anyone else had any bizarre dreams lately? I appreciate none could be as bizarre as a devoted Nikonian converting to Canon use!

DD - I can't believe I just wasted 2 minutes of my life reading that! :gag:

Some deeply subliminal stuff going on there - sign of a huge inner turmoil. Could be a sign. Ignore at at your peril. ;)

believe me you really don't want to know the dream I had last night, wierd to say the least.:cuckoo:

What a lovely dream, getting rid of all that nasty Nikon stuff and replacing it with beautiful Canon equipment.

God, what a nightmare, you must have eaten somthing iffy mate, im glad you woke to your nikon gear... :lol: [S1]i love nikon[/S1]

Made up, MADE UP!
I'm always trying to improve my technique and, well, it seemed plausible enough to me :(
Er, is there anybody out there with a steady hand and a sewing needle :'(:'(

Soz Canon B - I thought everyone would know about the various South American Pygmy tribes' history, and know that bit wasn't exactly true - it's a women of the tribe's trick with their lab...

(let's not go there!)

I would say that was more like a wet dream for a Nikon owner;)

Alas, I have not yet found the time to indulge in an in-depth study of Andean Dwarf's genitalia. I'll be sure to promote it up my reading list.

I've sussed you out from some of the plain nasty remarks above...

Some of you guys are....... Canon users???

I forgive you all!!!

For you know not what you do

It's clear to me now that someone of a lesser mind, desperate to get into photography, could buy Canon on finding their preferred Nikon choices aren't available the day they enter the shop

I blame those super slick salespeople for shoe-horning you into a Canon instead as, weak minded simple folk (aw) that you must all be, you went for the flashing lights or the fact that you could have white lenses that are easier to find in the dark; or was it the really big wheelie thing on the back of some of them?

Whatever... damn those super slick salespeople for so heartlessly preying on the weaker soul

I, and all Nikon users hereabouts I'm sure, pity thee - but in giving pity, we are strong enough at TP meets to let you at least gaze upon what you could/should have bought; perhaps (fellow Nikonians?) even let you touch too

My heart bleeds (goes to find tissue-box for tears)

Love to you all - damned but not forgotten :love::love:

I was about a reply to this in kind, when I thought I'd take a look at your website first - perhaps you could explain this from your About Us section!

About us
We are Anton and Ulrike de Klerk and we live in Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.

We both have a passion for photography using only the best equipment available, Nikon; and we enjoy different aspects such as sport, macro, landscapes and, of course, function and wedding photography.

I learned various aspects of photography while I was an official photographer in service of the government. I enjoy all aspects of Black & White darkroom work and, despite the digital age being way past dawning and drawing from more than fifteen years experience, I still learn on a daily basis that Canon cameras etc. are rubbish.

My wife, Ulrike, has more than five years of amateur photographic experience and has a keen eye for still life shots. It is a good thing at least one of us isn't constantly caught up in the overly technical.

Well this, in short, is us and we work together as a team with one assistant. This means that you get two Nikon loving photographers to capture your special day.

And when you hire us you get both of us for the full Nikon shooting day.

How can we capture your day?

I note the obvious discrepancies with your earlier comments on this thread - the case rests

Soz couldn't resist :lol::lol::lol:
