Canon M30/80 Portable storage Viewer

If it wasnt for the god-awful CF-HD transfer speed id consider getting one of those as a spare to my PD70X.

I look forwards to seeing a proper review with benchmarks of a production unit.

Should be easy for Canon camera users to get used to it, the back of it looks just like the back of a Canon camera.
 
Steep'ie dude you are dead right it does.

I've a crappy vosonic thing at the moment that works when it wants to and has a [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER]'d battery so replacing it is getting higher on the list.. so this, the MoJo and the Epson are looking increasingly tasty.

I'm on the fence at the mo (saving)
 
Takes a BP511 battery too.
 
It looks the nutz. I reckon it'll be £350-£400 for the 30 gig version though.

I used one demo one at a Canon sales day in Southampton a few weeks ago. I think it was just over 3 mins for a 1Gb card which isn't that slow really. Would probably take longer to shoot 1Gb of data in normal use.

I have the Epson P-2000 and it's just under 7 minutes for a 1Gb card. The advantages are iof you download when shooting it takes just a few seconds to download to your pc when you get home.

I love the P-2000. Screen is beautiful (better looking than the Canon too).

I think Canon are too late into this market to make any meaningful inroads. If it offers something over the competition it may do well but from what I've seen it's just another portable media storage device that has Canon EOS like controls.

If you don't have one already then it'll be a nice addition to the camera bag. I'm never without the P-2000 when capturing images.

The PD70X takes a smudge under 2mins to transfer 1gb. I hope Canon see the transfer speed as an issue and address it with either firmware or a upgraded version.
 
Yes I know. After I bought the P-2000 a few came out with incredible speed BUT they do not have the flexibility of the unit so swings and roundabouts. Depends how you shoot.

One thing I still note though is that the images are so sharp on the P-2000 I'm usually disappointed when I go tio view on my PC! :-)

I still don't see 3-4mins for the canon as particularly slow but if you are shooting sports or weddings then the faster the better I suppose. P-2000 is slow in comparison to these.
 
3-4 minutes is fine. You're not likely to fill the next card in that time and everyone has more than one card don't they?
 
Waiting 7 minutes for my P-2000 is a pain though :-(
