Canon Loose Zoom

Hi New here, as per title have just purchased a Canon 100-300 USM Zoom,have just noticed if the lens is held up or down the zoom just slides on it's own,there is no tension there, is this normal ?

Hope you can enlighten me please.

Zoom creep? Sounds like a bad case though.

Same thing happens on the 100-400L, which is a push/pull zoom. Is this one push/pull?

I don't have this lens but on the 100-400 there is a ring on the barrel for adjusting the tension so it can be fixed or loose to move around freely.

It's a twist zoom

Does it have a locking switch? Some lenses let you lock the internal elements in place.

Yes, seems normal for some long zooms - my old 75-300 used to open itself up if you hung it.
