Which Canon Lens comes with the nice Padded Case? As I know some dont some comes with grey bag type..

I prefer the padded case as more protection.

100-400 does, I'm hoping when I find one the 70-200 2.8 does as well  I imagine the longer L lenses do but since I don't have any I await a lottery win before I can help!!

Not all L lens comes with the padded case my 17 - 40 L doesnt and a friend 70 - 200 F 4 L doesnt

My Canon 70-200 2.8L came with a soft grey coloured pouch

The 24-105 comes with a nice suede style grey pouch. Reminds me of a kangaroos scrotum. :D

Really my friend got this with his 5d and he got the grey pouch

i believe only the large primes come with a padded case, i have a 70-200 2.8 IS and that didnt have a case I know the 300 2.8 and up all do, not sure about the smaller lenses, maybe one of the 200 L series lenses does as well.

24-70L, just a pouch. Wonder how much you have to spend before you get the padded case! lol

That what I am thinking... What gets me is alot of the sigma lens comes in padded case which is good. I like padded case to protect the lens more

Oh Dear, how familiar are you with Kangaroos Bert? ;)

Very strange, I have the same lens, and that came with a padded case.
The large primes usually come in a hard carry case.

Which lens that?

From what I have:

50 f1.4 - nothing
24-105 f4 L - Grey Pouch & Hood
200 f2.8 L - Grey Pouch & Hood

and from what i've had in the past:
100 f2.8 macro - nothing
50 f1.8 - nothing
20-35 - nothing
70-200 f4L - Grey pouch & Hood

In contrast with the Sigma I own:
24-70 f2.8 - Padded pouch & Hood
120-400 4.5-5.6 - Padded pouch (with shoulder strap) & Hood & Tripod Collar

Yeah I think that lens would

But what case does the
Canon 70 - 200 F4 L IS come in and the F2.8 non is

Looks as sigma give out padded case for all their lens then?

70-200 2.8 IS and 100-400 L IS both come in the same soft padded case. Mine are locked away ina cupboard thats why i forgot em:help:

Other than that i think its the larger primes with the hard padded cases.

Yeah I meant the soft padded case sorry for confusion.

very good prices those lens case but I feel when spending big money on canon L we should get padded with them all

I think pretty much it is as follows:

1. "Black" L lenses come with a grey pouch (i.e. 24-105, 17-40, 24-70 etc)
2. "White" L lenses come with padded case (i.e. 70-200/2.8, 100-400, 300/4, 400/5.6) although I think someone said the 70-200/4 comes with a grey pouch
3. Super primes (200/2, 300/2.8, 400/4DO, 400/2.8, 500/4, 600/4, 800/5.6) come with hard cases that people just store in the attic.

Not quite, the 16-35 comes with the pouch but the 180 macro (black) comes with the padded case :) and both come with the lens hood :D

why cant canon just provide the soft padded case for all their L Lens? Wont be wise?

By my list the 16-35 should come with a pouch as it isn't white. I always forget the 180 macro on these things. It is also one of the few black lenses that with take a Canon extender.

I think all L lenses come with hoods...

My 100-400 + 70-200 2.8 Came with zipped cases.

The 200 2.8 is also a black lens and that takes tele converters (i assume thats what you meant by extender?)

I'm surprised Canon Bob hasn't come on here to set everything straight. Looks like it's up to me then...

HARD CASES.
The following Canon lenses come in a hard case: 200/2L IS, 300/2.8L IS, 400/2.8L IS, 400/4 DO IS, 500/4L IS, 600/4L IS, 800/5.6L IS.

PADDED ZIP CASES.
Padded light grey zip cases are supplied with the following Canon lenses: 28-300L IS, 70-200/2.8L (IS and non-IS), 100-400L IS, 300/4L IS, 400/5.6L, 180/3.5L Macro.

SUEDE POUCHES
Grey suede pouches are supplied with all Canon "L" and "DO" lenses other than those listed above - in other words, the 70-200/4L (IS and non-IS) and all black "L" lenses except the 180/3.5L macro.

In addition, some non-L lenses may be supplied with pouches. I don't really have much expertise here, but I was very surprised to see that the most recent EF-S 10-22mm which I bought - out of about 8 in total - came supplied with a pouch. That's my only Canon lens (other than "L" and "DO") which came in a pouch. Are Canon changing their policy? It would be interesting to know.

HOODS.
All Canon "L" and "DO" lenses come with hoods. As I've said I don't have much experience of non-"L" lenses, but what I have seen suggests that they don't come with hoods.

I'm surprised Canon Bob hasn't come on here to set everything straight.

He was wondering, based on some of the posts above, whether there were differences in pouch/padded case choice depending which region the lens was originally intended for....it seems not.

I can add that the two non-L TS-E lenses both come with soft pouches.

Bob
