Canon Lens on Ebay

I'd steer clear. The canon 75-300 range has an abysmal reputation.

I'd suggest going for a 55-250 IS (there is a version II, but it's purely cosmetic changes), its has a excellent reputation as a budge telephoto.

It really depends on your budget, if you are on limited funds, under £100, and just starting out it will do the job but as Adam has pointed out you get what you pay for. As mentioned in this review the IS version is considered slightly better. The 55-250 IS is a better lens but does cost more.

I have a 75-300 and although it's reputably not the best lens, it does have a sweet spot and if you can pick one up very cheap, then it's a reasonable starter long lens.

I recently bought a 75-300 from the classifieds on here for £50 delivered.
Ok, so the IQ may not be great but it's a perfectly usable 300mm lens for less than the cost of a night out!
There's no IS and the build quality leaves a lot to be desired but for that price it was worth a punt.
