Hi all, Bought a Canon 1100D body the other day been using fixed 50mm prime lens with it, and am thinking of buying EF 28-135mm lens tomorrow for it, is this a good walk around lens, has anyone had any experience with one??

Do you want to be able to use wide angles with your walkabout lens?

If so, you might find this isnt wide enough, as I did.

I have the 18-135 IS which produces beautiful pictures, but even better are the 17-55 IS and 15-85 IS lenses (and of course they come with a heftier price tag!)

If you dont mind not being able to shoot wide then the 28-135 is good enough as a walkabout, but was really designed for full frame bodies.

It has reasonable reviews but you may want to consider the 17-85mm IS USM instead, similar IQ and a bit cheaper as well.

On your camera the focal length is multiplied by 1.6, which will make the 28mm into 45mm. Depends on what you want to use it for but that might not be wide enough.

I used to us the 28-135 as a walk around and was very happy with it but it depends on where you are walking around. I now use the 70-200 which most people say is too long for a walk around lens.
