Hi everyone

First of all. I am not sure where to put this thread, it's not camera related so I thought of putting it here, but please do move it if needed (please can you tell me where to tho)

I am looking for some help.
I have a Canon Legria HFM 306 and I am using the provided software (pixela image ver 3)
Anyone here used one or own one????. But if you know how to solve my problem then I would be very greatful

OK so I got the camcorder spring last year. Havent backed any of the clips up as I had trouble installing the software.
I finally got it up and running last night and almost burnt my first disc.
I added the clips into a folder (4.01gb of 4.7) and then I clicked write.
The write window popped up and it says the disc isnt compatable with the drive, make sure I use a disc which supports the speed of my drive.

I then tried 3 different make of disc and it's still saying the same thing.
I then swapped my DVD-R rom with my other computer and tried it again. It's still saying the same thing, but the thing is I have used these disc and burned ALOT of vids/data before so I know the disc is fine with the drive.

Any ideas? do you have any recommedation to a certain brand I should try?
I am all new to this and I am not very wise to computers :bang:

Thanks in advance

ok, Just booted up the comp and check the message.

This disc is not supported. Insert any of the following disc
- DVD-R/DVD-R DL (blank disc)
- DVD-RW
Make sure to use a disc that supports the writting speed of the drive
if writting fails, use a disc from other manufacturer

Anyway. I checked my blank DVD and it says DVD+R (not DVD-R) does the + and - make any difference?

Yes it does, - and + are two different systems. buy some -r discs and you'll be fine m8.

Sweet. Thanks for the reply. I will give it ago

OK. I went down to tesco after work to get some DVD-R and tried it. and I managed to burn 1 copy after the first attemp failed.

after I burned the first copy, I tested it on a DVD player and it says cannot play. I also tested it on a computer and it's not reading anything.
Any ideas?

I burn it under AVCHD (so it will worked on dvd players)

Bump

anyone got any ideas?
I right click the DVD drive, click open and instead of VT files, I have a folder named 'BDMV'

I thought AVCHD was a format for bluray players not dvd players? never done it myself so could be wrong.

AVCHD is BluRay, not DVD. I don't have the software you are using, so don't know what is available but you need MPEG2 format for DVD. Max width 720pixels, max height 576 pixels. Sound needs to be MPEG2 or AC3.

Oh right. I looked on the table/chart and it says I can do DVD standard definition, AVCHD high definition, Blu-ray high definition or data.

and then it says both DVD standard and AVCHD can be played on standalone DVD player.

maybe I will try the standard definition now and see if it will work.
