Hi there folks, just bought canon IP 4700 and trying out different papers. In general seems to print fairly close to what I see on screen, just slightly darker. (I'm using the printer driver to automatically do colour adjustments when printing from photoshop - havn't properly calibrated yet, not sure how to do this easily:thinking:...)

Can anyone recommend what to do re. papers? Tried some cheap third party matte and gloss which isn't a patch on the measly 3 sheets of 4 by 6 "canon - photo paper plus glossy 11" which came with the printer...

Slightly shocked by how much canon paper costs having always used third party before. Is there a cheaper alternative as good?

Also I have purchased a CISS system from City Ink Express which I havn't installed yet, anyone have any experience of using this on IP4700 and reasonable results?

Thanks for any answers people, might save me a lot of pricey trial and error!

Cheers:thumbs:,
G.

If you have access to a COSTCO store you'll find their own brand KIRKLAND papers very good. I use them and tell the printer they are Canon Pro Paper. Only A4 and 6x4 sizes though.

I've also had good results with HP and quality Epson paper in mine (using old stock up !), the Fuji preium paper works well - not tried Kirkland paper yet, will try when I run down current stocks as I've heard a few people say it's good. I've also read Tesco's finest paper works well.

This printer produces astounding results. So far I've tried "Canon photo paper plus glossy ii PP201" which is the best so far. "Epson premium semigloss photo paper" is really close to the quality of the canon paper and quite a bit cheaper. Just tried "kodak gloss brilliant photo paper" which is crap.
