Hi,

I got the beautiful Canon G9. I'd like to try a flashgun with it. A Canon speedlite would best. But what others can you recommend me. My budget is under a £100.

I havent tried but one of the Sigmas or Jessops flashguns should work with it no problem.

You could always take your camera in to jessops and try it out.

LOL.I've had the 580EX on the G9 and it works well, but it does look kinda silly stuck on top of the G9 and does rather defeat the object of a pocket camera.

Agreed, I have done the same and it looks ridiculous :)

The jessops one up above is smaller about the same size as a 430ex but even this is too large.

I think a 220ex would be better suited to be honest and you can pick them up for under £100
 
I've done the same with the 580ex. It not only looks stupid but the balance goes completly to pot, you end up holding the flash and not the camera.

I'd also go with the 220ex, cheaper and even more so if bought off ebay.
 
Hey all,

Thanks for the advice. I agree, some of these flashguns are bigger than the camera itself. What I want is the bounce flash for a portrait and macro work. But there are ways around it. I did see a Nissin flashgun on ebay today for about £60. I just have to keep an eye out. Shooting some flowers tomorrow at Finsbury Square. Lets hope for some natural light!:)
