Canon G10

Well I've finally given in to temptation and bought one. It was the threat of price rises that did it.

I bought it from my local Jessops, the manager knocked about £25 off for me.... Just thought I'd mention that ...

But my point is, has anyone been able to get hold of a manual for it that they can take out into the field? I know Lensflare was complaining about the lack of this earlier on.

I would think you can get a pdf from the Canon website and then print off the pages you think you might need in the field.

Or study and learn before you go ;-)

I know I should. It does come with a disc, but I'd much prefer a nice little book that I can flick thro' the pages of.

I guess I'll probably have to use the disc unless anyone knows any better.

make your own book, print the manual on A5 then stick in an organiser

My one from the US came with a the full manual printed in diddy* format.

Robert Scott Associates / Canon will do this and sell me one for £17.43 inc p&p. Now there's a bargain.

And Canon US won't ship to UK ....

Hey Jerry - how are you finding the G10 build quality?

Overall I'm happy, but there's one small area that is annoying, if it was anywhere else but this particular spot I'd likely not have noticed.

The casing rear-top-right (as gripped by thumb during operation (also when operating the AE/FE-lock/Microphone Button) ) 'creaks' audibly and can also be felt by the thumb during operation. There is a visually noticable slight amount of movement in the casing (when looking at the seam near the top panel where 'Powershot G10' is printed).
The problem here is that the creaking sound is actually recorded which is very audible during movie playback, this ruins the audio for the movie clip. It is also recorded when attaching sound memo's to images because the Microphone button needs to be operated for this, which is part of the same casing area that creaks.

I'm looking at sending it back, to be honest it's ruining the experience of an otherwise great cam.
