Canon G series SENSOR Failure!

Has any one had a Canon G7/8/9/10 camera and had its sensor stop working!
Can it be repaired or is it not economical?
Should I just chuck it and bite the bullet?

Quick answer to your question for me is No - but, are you sure it's the sensor that's died? Assuming you're getting black images or the camera isn't working at all, could it not be some other fault that's relatively cheap to put right?
