Yes
I bought the Canon Extension Tube EF25 II which arrived yesterday. I put it on my Canon 60d together with my 50mm 1.4 lens.
Then I tried to take photos with the autofocus on and no matter what distance I tried it would not focus or take a photo.
Then I put it on manual and when I focused very very close to the object then I got nice sharp photos.

The question is should it not also be able to use autofocus? Is there anything I have to do for it to work? Or might it be broken?

Stefanie,

With the 25mm tube on a 50/1.4 then the full range of focus of the lens occurs between 82-110mm....the lens cannot on anything outside this distance (from the lens to the subject. The aperture control uses the same contacts as the focus so if the aperture control works okay then the tube is fine and it's simply the way you are trying to use it.
