OK all you Canon fans, help needed.
I've got a 20D which displays the message 'Err CF'. I've tried several batteries and cards - nada.
If I try to format a card in the camera it comes up with 'Err 99'.
I can't find anything about a factory reset.
Any suggestions?

ERR99 is a lens mount error, take the lens off and clean the contacts,

Err 99 is actually an unassigned error and is used when the camera's firmware can't allocate one of the assigned codes.

Hi when my camera had an err99 it was, a shutter curtain error, the clip had come off the mirror mechanism, and got lodged in the shutter, canon sorted it out in 5 days to be sent to them and returned to me, with new mirror mechanism, and they cleaned it all as well

As Bob says it's an error code to cover errors that have no code. However you also get can't format card message which is a little concerning.

With a card in does it allow you to take a picture. And if so does it write to the card.

I had a Err99 message on my 20D some years ago and it was a result of the pop up flash not popping up. ( Didn't want it to anyway) It just needed a bit of help, and was soon freed up. It possibly something like this that may be causing the error. It could be a bit of a pig to find, or you may just drop on to the problem
