canon eos 1100d or nikon d3100

hi all,

new to the world of dslr,used to have a canon 35mm slr years ago but never used it to its potential leaving it on auto for pretty much everything.

im looking for an entry level dslr for using whilst fishing for obviously taking pics of fish captures but also general pics of whats going on around me,wildlife etc. and general pics of lakes,sunsets etc.

ive had a hold of both cameras and prefer the feel of the nikon being slightly smaller in the hand,it would be used with the supplied lens untill i feel competent enough to invest in other lenses,hopefully by then i'll have an idea of what other lenses will offer me in terms of results.

both the canon and nikon are around the price im looking to pay so thats the reason im looking at them 2 in particular.

any advice/opinions would be great

Both are capable cameras, and you should go with what you feel comfortable with.If you have any old lens from canon which you can use, then it would be a good idea to go for a canon.

Little between them and both capabale of taking great pictures. Sounds like the Nikon.

thanks for the fast responses,pretty much what i expected to hear after trawling the net reading comparisons they seem fairly similar cameras.
