Well it has just come now, i paid £85inc for it with a free Hoya UV HMC 58mm filter.
First impressions, as you probably know, it looks exactly the same as the standard 18-55 EF-S but it has the same finish as the 18-70 IS, (the shiny blobby bits). It weighs about the same, and without the 'Image Stabilizer' text and the button, you would mistake it for the standard kit lens.
Apparently, Canon have added a Apochromatic? coat to the lens to improve CA fringing which is present on the standard lens (not that i've noticed really - but then i haven't used the kit lens much). And word has it that this coat has improved IQ by quite a margin, so i bought the lens to find out, and at £85 inc, it wasn't much of a gamble.
Anyway, that's as far as i've got yet, coming next, photo's and samples - please stay tuned.
