Hi,

I think I know the answer, but wanted to ask here if anyone has any bright ideas.
I have a 50mm STM lens - and just wanted to see if there were any lens profiles for my standalone version of LR (5.7).
Looking at this link,Adobe Site it seems that it is available from 6.1.

Is there any way I can add it into the version that I have?
Anyone familiar in manually adding the profile?
Is it worth it (as in the correction worthwhile)?

Is there not a profile for the old 50mm f1.8 that you could try as a start point?

There is, and I have tried it. Just wanted to see if there was any difference between that and the STM version...

Optically I think the lenses are the same design, the differences being the body, diaphragm and motor.

But I'm intrigued, because I've never looked at lens profiles, what am I missing?

Apparently (according to the blurb) it can help to correct lens aberrations - barrel and pincushion geometric distortion.

I can see some difference when I use it on my 24-105, so wanted to see if it was of use on the 50mm.

I can usually see differences when applying profiles, but apart from vignetting and CA, they are often so subtle that I'm usually happy enough with an uncorrected version.
I've even cancelled corrections at times, when I've actually preferred the barrel distortion of some wide-angle lenses.
As ever, you always have the choice whether or not to apply the correction.
