Has anybody had an experiance with this lens? What would I be looking at in terms of photo quality, sharpness etc, aswell as build quality?

Thanks in advance.

I had one briefly...came as part of a body kit. It will have better IQ than your 75-300 but falls short of some of the other offerings out there. It wasn't at all impressive wide open and the 28-135 provides a far better option, albeit costing a little more.....I ended up with one of these for my wife to use on her 30D.

I had one for years, it is a great lens on budget for Full frame, it has USM and 7 blades aperture, built quality is better than the kit but short of L. It is pretty sharp too and you can pick it up pretty cheap, i sold mine on here last month for around £110.

I have had one for a couple of months now. As an upgrade to the 18-55mm kit lens. I picked it up for £80 on ebay, so I got it a good price.

To be honest I am happy with it, definately better than the kit lens, and great for the money.

Check out the user reviews on www.fredmiranda.com/ they are very promising.

But as I am new to photography, I still struggle to tell a good lens from a bad.

Thing to bear in mind, is that the 28mm, is not really wide enough, but if you have that covered by another lens, then this is a great focal range.

It will do me until I can afford the 24-105mm L lens. A longtime in other words.

I sold mine on here last month for around £110.

And I bought it and am happy with the results to date. I have other lenses, 17-40L and 70-200L IS , but for a throw on the 5D carry around all day in a holster lens for general photography it is fine.

Cheers guys.

Considering some options as a walk about lens when I upgrade to a 40D, the Sigma 17-70 is looking to be the one, but spotted this and wondered what it'd be like, seeing as it's a little cheaper etc.
