Hi All
I am looking to purchase this lens but the pricing structure is quite vast. What should I expect to pay for a used lens? Or is there a different manufacturer that is not as pricey but will do the job for me as well?

Any advice would be appreciated

Regards

Steve

£500-525 seems to be the going rate for a private sale, Steven.

You don't specify what "the job" is....I'll assume exclusively macro.

Most macro lenses are excellent for macro shots and you only need to decide which focal length suits your intended victims/subject matter. The Sigma macros are top notch and others will be fine optically if you're prepared to accept a lower standard of build quality.

Many thanks Bob, I saw one used for about £450 so was considering getting it. Sorry the *job* is Macro of which I have a keen interest, but would also like to use the lens for portrait shots. Would a Sigma allow me this sort of work?

You might take a look at the new Tamron 90mm f2.8 Di USD VC Macro. It is around £500 and comes with good IQ, image stabilization, ultrasonic focus, weather sealing and 5 year warranty. Not bad...
