Canon DPP ALO increasing file size -

Quite dramatically it would seem.

I have just noticed that applying DLO and other enhancements to a RAW file in DPP dramatically increases the RAW file size.

The one I just looked at, a relatively simple portrait shot, so not something with bags of detail, went from 23.9MB to 47.2MB!!!!!

Reverting the RAW to "shot settings" and re saving it saw the file size return to the smaller size.

Now I don't think this is a problem as such but it would be easy to almost double the storage needed for your photos by applying global editing settings to files you might not actually need to convert.

Other than cropping doing almost anything will increase file sizes I think - especially adding lots of layers !

This was something talked about when DLO first came on to DPP back in May, basically if your short on storage space either buy more or only use DLO on images that really need it, ie. those your printing LARGE, and not on web size stuff where it'll not be noticed.
