Canon Cashback?

Do Canon just offer cashback on items they are about the phase out, to make way for new stock?

I'm considering buying a 50D but as they're offering cash back on it i'm wondering if a new model might be on its way?

I think they are currently offering cash back on the 500d and that's not an old camera. The 550d is very new and that had a cash back offer that ended May 30th so no i think you will be OK but who knows whats round the corner!
