Does anyone know if there is much difference between the two grips apart from a better seal on the battery door of the latest version which to me does not amount to much of an improvement on it's own anyway.
Does the BG-E2 fit the 40D ok.

Don't know much about the difference between the two, but the BG-E2 will fit the 40D fine.

Looking at my 40D I expect the battery door on the body has to be removed first and put somewhere safe, is that correct?. If so I bet a good few of those have been mislaid.

Yep sure does, on my BGe2 it tucks into the side as you put the battery grip into the camera. (30d BTW)

Just to clarify Glen, do you open the door and tuck into the side of the grip as you are fitting it or do you actually remove it from it's hinge and tuck it into the grip.

You remove the door from the hinge of the 40D (its only held in on one side by a small clasp).
Then once its off you tuck it into the thin extended part of the grip, all nice and secure.

Cheers for that kinchy, it all sounds nice and neat, think I will give one a go.
