Canon and Nikon discontinued lenses reports

Thanks for the information :)
I’m still using EF lenses on my R5 , the EF lenses work so well it’s not worth changing lenses to RF for me anyway
I notice the 100mm macro on that list but as far as I can work out it’s the old EF version that’s discontinued not the L IS version which is good to know as I’m not sure about the new RF version as it has focus shift issues, for what I photograph anyway would be an issue

Thought this may be an interesting read for us DLSR users (aka dinosaurs )

It's a shame. I am not ready for mirrorless yet but there's an inevitability to it now if you want the latest greatest sensor tech that you need to go this way.

Interesting, now that they're making more DSLR styled/handling bodies is it just EVF's that are putting folk off from moving to mirrorless or is there more to it?

EVFs in part an issue but they are getting better. Size - I do prefer a larger camera - but the Nikon Z9, GFX100s, Panasonic S1R's etc are all right sized for me.

My major worry is sensor dirt ingress. Every workshop client has mentioned it who's had Sonys, Z7's, R5's etc being much more of an issue over their older DSLR.

I'm sure the AF is better distributed on the mirrorless - but you can have the issue with PDAF banding/striping.

I'm in no hurry to move over.

The article mentions lenses that are being discontinued. Perhaps what is interesting is what's being continued. In the Nikon list the discontinued lenses (bar the 18-35 ED and 70-200 F4) are all pretty old and have been superseded with newer versions. With these two - there are more high end lenses with similar FLs. So it appears bad, but actually I can see a different story. The F1.4 primes, current 2.8 trinitys, the super tele zoom and prime pro grade stuff is going nowhere. Some of the current hobbyist crap is getting ditched - and that's more to do with the rise of camera phones than anything else.

I've not actually heard of dirt ingress before, I'll look into it (y)

In terms of dirt on the sensor I used to find the D750 and D850 would need to be cleaned quite regularly, I've not yet had to do it on my A9ii :)
