Hi,
I have the option to acquire some Canon AE-1 fit lenses (135mm f2.8 and 200mm f3.5) for cheap/free. I have a EOS 450. I know ebay has an adapter for about £26.
Would it be worth adding these to my (limited) kit?:nuts:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For next to nothing? Can't hurt. What are the actual lenses though, i'm willing to bet there's dozens of 135 2.8 and 200 3.5 lenses for Canon FD. As the adapters are so expensive it looks like the FD lens rear element is closer to the film (sensor) than on the EF, otherwise they would be cheap as. The lenses themselves may not autofocus, in which case if you don't mind shooting manual then this might work?

Try pentax, nikon, leica R, contax glass instead. Canon FD is a waste of time and money when used on EOS bodies - they don't work without a special glass element that kills the IQ pretty severely (the ebay version does at least).

Thank you
I was looking at a Vivitar 200mm 1:3.5 auto telephoto lens with tx mount and a Mitakon auto MC 1:2.8 135mm lens

 NOOOO! I take hundreds of photos to get 1 semi decent one – it would cost me a fortune in film!

No film is for the people that know what they are doing not for armatures like me!

Actually, film forces you to take good photos, it doesn't require it ;)

It's exactly how I learned to use a camera, with a second hand late 1960s Praktica SLR, 50mm lens and a Vivitar light meter. The AE-1 has relatively sophisticated built in metering that makes it a cinch.

I still have some photos from thirty years ago that I'm quite happy with.

Oh, and the FD 135mm f/2.8 is a cracking lens.
