Canon 90D live view

OK, I've recently bought a Canon 90D, one thing that attracted me to it was the movable live view screen which seems like it would be useful for taking shots from a low perspective. The thing is, try as I might, I can only seem to shoot video with it and can't take actual photos.

Is this how it's supposed to be or am I doing something wrong?
 
Ahh, thanks for the reply. It wasn't that, I re-read the bit in the manual and realised I was doing it wrong.

All sorted now :)

Yes that must be the reason, it's the same on my 80D
