Hi. On a 7D how many hot pixels is considered too many on long exposure? [5 10 15 30 seconds]

Way too many there, loads of red ones.

If you use RAW and load it into photoshop it will map them out, having said that my 5d2 had less and Canon replaced the sensor under the warranty.

Yeah i think i might have to have a trip down to fixation

do you see these on a 'normal' exposure? have you got long exposure noise reduction turned off?

i don't think that is at all bad for a 60sec exposure (according to your exif).

remember hot pixels come and go over time and show up more when the camera/sensor gets warm.

if you don't see them in normal exposures + exposures < 10 seconds i wouldn't worry about it.

Sorry thought that was the 30 second one :D
But you sure? These will show up if I was doing night time photography. And i often do...

When working out what a hot pixel is and what a star is becomes a pain.

So you sure these arnt bad?

i can only count a few pixels which i would classify as truly 'hot', the slightly red ones you see aren't really 'hot', just more sensitive.

try re-testing after you camera has been off overnight and has cooled down.

i've seen much much worse than this.

I just looked again on my big screen and there's far too many large red and white clusters. Some scary blue ones too.

I would let fixation have a look, those feint red ones wont bother you too much but too many of them are clusters not single pixels.

If you into Astrophotography that sensor would be a waste of time.
