Canon 7D Faulty?

Upgraded from a 30D to a 7D. Not sure if i am overlooking a simple error on my part or is the new body faulty. When set to any of the creative zones, AV, TV etc, when i press the shutter release no picture is taken, i can hear a noise similar to one that is made when the shutter is left fully open in normal manual mode on my 30D, if i depress the shutter release a second time a picture is taken. Also in the movie mode, stop/ start only activates the live view facility. Not sure what is going on. I have followed the instructions in the manual.

I think you have 'mirror lockup' enabled. Check Custom Function111 -13. to enable or disable

I think you have mirror lockup enabled, just disable it and you'll be fine
 
The 7D is a very complex camera with a lot of new functions over the 30D. I think you need to read the manual ;)
