Does anyone have any experience of this lens?
I currently have a Tamron 70-300mm lens, which was great for my old camera, but having recently upgraded to the Canon 7D, I'm after a new lens quickly!
My main subjects are dogs/animals/wildlife so I'm wondering if I will miss that 100mm I have on the current lens if I get this one?
I do like to have a good zoom since my dogs are just off all the time!

Has anyone got any good recommendations for telephoto lens that will be good on my 7D within a £500 budget or should I just wait till I have more money?!

Thanks!

Hi there,

The 70-200 f4 L is a cracking lens for the money and you will not be disappointed if you end up with one.
I loved the one I had and it was very rarely off the camera.
Very sharp wide open at both ends of the zoom range and just gets sharper as you step it down a few stops.

Doesn't have the extra 100mm that your tamron lens has but what it lacks in length it more than makes up for in quality.
It will also suit your subject matter too.

I had the 70-200f4L. It was superb. Very much lighter than the f2.8 version and a great performer. I'd prefer to have the quality rather than the extra 100mm personally. I also had a Canon 70-300mm which would be a cheaper option but IMHO at the 300 end was really not up to scratch and so not recommended.

Hi Jessica & welcome

For the money, the 70-200F4 is an absolute belter of a lens and highly regarded - it'll blow the socks of your current lens ...

You can pick up a new one within your budget

or you could look 2nd hand, you'd probably save about £100

Good luck and go get one :D

Hi Jessica, I had no probs whatsoever with the 70-200 really flexible even with the 1.4 converter attached as well.
