Canon 70-200 ii is usm question

Just bought one of these gorgeous lens..it comes with 2 stabalisation modes....whats the difference between 1 qnd 2 also what does the top button do...now im off to do some weight lifting its seriously heavy

Mode 2 is for panning, where it only stabilises on one axis. Mode 1 stabilises in 2 axis (for static subjects).

The top switch allows you to limit the focal distance range. The narrower range of 2.5 to infinity can result in quicker focussing and less hunting If the subject is further than 2.5m away.
