I have been using a 650d to photo my boys playing ice hockey over the last year with reasonable results. Due to the low light conditions I am wanting to go full frame. I was looking at the 6d as its the cheapest but a friend told me its no good for sports photography due to poor autofocus, apparently I need the 5d mk3! Obviusly this is a lot more money and to be honest i cant really justify the cost. Basically I am looking for opinions on the 6d AF abilities for fast sports in low light. Any ideas? I currently have a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens.

Or wait for couple of months and then buy the new Canon 7D mkII - that seems to be getting lots of good reviews and capable of handling low-light and at 10fps.. it's faster than a 5D MKiii
Once the 7D mkII does come out - I will hopefully give it a test in some poorly light basketball venue :-)
And the 6D and 7DmkII don't seem to far off priced from one another....

I'll be testing the 7dii for basketball when it's out. It sounds like it has potential to be decent. It's the hi iso performance I'm most interested in. I would imagine most of the same criteria applies for ice hockey.
