Hi all, I have this canon 640 which is about 4 yrs old. At the time of purchase it was highly recommended in the photographic magazines. The front tray works great which I use for documents. But I have been having a problem with the loading sequence from the rear tray lately?
Viewing the printer from the front, as the paper is taken downwards, the right hand side is jamming slightly
And therefore the paper ( photographic) is scewift for want of a better word. Sometimes a message comes up
That there is a paper blockage! Which is not the case! I must admit to not using the printer on a regular basis. Can anyone help please
Kind regards mike

Hi Mike

Can you see the rollers working from above as it's pulling the paper down - working on what my iP Canon printer does, the right hand roller (as you are looking at the printer) gets all the work for the rear feed as any size of paper is loaded from the right hand side - my rollers are on a bar, which turns, so all the rollers are turning together.

I've had a similar problem to you on an older printer previously and it was the roller slipping / not gripping the paper that was causing the problem. I initially tried wiping the roller over with some sticky tape (sticky side to roller :) ) which removed impurities and this helped for a while, but then the problem reoccurred, spoke to our local service centre and he said the problem is the roller has lost it's grip, they could replace, but at £... So I thought I've nothing to loose, got some wet and dry paper and rubbed the roller with it which "roughed" it very slightly, cleaned it off and hey presto, no more issues, the roller had some grip again...

Hope this is of some help...
