Has Canon discontinued the 5xx series speedlites?

I borrowed a friend's 430EX II at Christmas & with Focus/the photo show coming up I was looking at the latest lineup but can't see any new 5xx speedlites, only the 430 and the 600. The 430 is great, but is a little lacking & then the 600 seems a little overkill with the build in radio. I was most likely to go for something middle of the road as I don't really shoot much in the way of portraits, but don't like to buy entry model kit.

Are there only 2 options these days?
 
Yeah I've seen that & it lacks a 5xx unit. It seemed sensible to have the 3 options with the 580 in between, but it seems to have gone.
 
Yep, it's gone, the 600EX-RT is streets ahead of the 580. I'm waiting on the non beta Yongnuo 600 hitting the market but they still have issues
 
I've got a pair of the 600EX-RTs and the Yongnuo transmitter, and it works excellently.

Didn't realise the flash equivalents were still beta, Jim, aren't they available yet?

They are available to buy but the current batch have issues, battery and cutting out, so I think most for sale on fleabay are beta test models. I have 2x Canon 600's and the Canon transmitter and they work great but I have had a play with a Yongnuo 600 flash and it failed after 15 mins.
