I've spent a while looking on ebay/amazon etc but can't find a cheapo (15-20 quid) timer remote that says it will work on the 5D3 and that takes AA or AAA batteries.

Most listed mention they will work with the 5D2 but not the 5D3 - is it the same connection?

The connection is the same for the cable release and that's usually where a remote timer fits.

Mark, is it worth you looking at Calumets radio flash controller which reverses and you can use it as a remote controller I use it on both 7D and 5D3, Cost slightly more than you stated on thread but far cheaper than Canons offering

I've got a set of RF602s I can use if I want radio triggering. For my style of shooting a wired release is absolutely fine.

Does it need to take AA/AAA batteries? I bought the RC 6 from Amazon for £13 and works perfectly with the 5D3!
